The DS201C10A30 device is a combined unit that integrates, in a single module, the functions of a miniature circuit breaker (protection against overloads and short circuits) and a residual current device (protection against earth faults).
It is designed for standard single-phase applications (residential, commercial, and some light industrial environments).
Operation and use
1) Thermomagnetic protection (overload / short circuit)
The “thermomagnetic” part acts on two phenomena:
- Thermal: detects currents above the rated value (e.g., excessive loads) and trips after a time proportional to the overload (avoiding unnecessary trips for small fluctuations).
- Magnetic: in case of a short circuit (very high current), the magnetic mechanism trips almost instantly to interrupt the circuit.
2) Residual current protection (earth fault)
An internal sensor monitors the current difference between phase and neutral. If this difference (leakage current) exceeds 30 mA, the device trips and interrupts the circuit, preventing electric shocks and fire hazards due to leakage. Being Type A, it can detect both sinusoidal alternating currents and pulsating direct currents (for example generated by electronic devices).
